Disclaimer (Memorial Union Reconstruction)

Starting March 23, 2015, the departments of Campus Recreation and Unions (CRU) and Design and Construction Management (DCM) will begin the Memorial Union Renewal. This comprehensive renovation will make the historic Memorial Union a more dynamic environment and integral on-campus destination for students and others in the UC Davis community. The project will maintain the integrity of the Memorial Union as a historic facility, reinforcing its importance to the campus. In addition, a number of critical and strategic improvements will meet the needs of a growing student population and enhance the student experience. The Memorial Union Renewal includes the following improvements:

  • The creation of a new, more dynamic entry to the northwest side of campus and to the Memorial Union itself.
  • A new two-story lobby in the north face of the Memorial Union.
  • Increased lounge/study space.
  • A new home for the UC Davis Veterans Affairs Office.
  • Expanded opportunities for UC Davis Stores and ASUCD to serve the student population and campus community, including new and updated retail spaces.
  • Improvements to the North and South Memorial Union Plazas.
  • Critical improvements in compliance with seismic codes and ADA requirements.

You can find information for the project at the Campus Recreation and Unions Website or their Facebook Page.

The Memorial Union Guest Services Desk serves the students, faculty, campus visitors, students from abroad, as well as the general public with their everyday information needs. The Information Center, "info center", "people with the stapler", is staffed by students, who are eager to answer your daily inquiries.

In addition to answering day to day questions and providing campus, bike and bus maps, The Memorial Union Guest Services Desk  makes reservations for tables in the front of the MU and Silo, as well as display case reservations for registered student organizations and campus departments registered.

Lost and Found

The Lost & Found for the MU is located at the Information Center. During the Info Center’s open hours, they will accept all lost items. We are not responsible for loss, damage to or recovery of property. Valuables are turned over to the UC Davis Police Department on a weekly basis. All other items are kept at Guest Services for four weeks then donated. Staff are available to assist guests with lost and found during Memorial Union open hours.

If your organization wishes to use the tables found in front of the MU (on the South patio) you must first register with the MU Guest Services desk. To do so, visit the desk and inform the attendant that you wish to make a table reservation. A student organization or on-campus department may reserve the tables up to 4 weeks in advance of the time they wish to use the table. Non-profit and off-campus organizations may only reserve up to a week before their desired time of use. After you have made your reservation, the attendant will inform you to return to the desk the-day-of your reservation to pick up a confirmation slip.

**NOTE because of the MU Renewal Project, the display cases are no longer available to reserve.

Study Spaces

Because of the MU Renewal Project, study spaces in the Memorial Union have changed. Griffin Lounge, King Lounge, Art Lounge, and the Art conference room have all gone offline. However, located on the second floor of the MU are several study rooms including; Smith, DeCarli, Fielder, and Garrison. Room cards are placed outside the spaces each morning to inform students when the room is available for public use. If you are unsure if you can use the space, ask the Guest Services Attendant at the desk.
