The newly redesigned Memorial Union opened May 1, 2017. These are the benefits of the new building.
- The creation of a new, more dynamic entry to the northwest side of campus and to the Memorial Union itself.
- A new two-story lobby in the north side of the Memorial Union.
- Increased lounge/study space.
- A new home for the UC Davis Veterans Affairs Office. (second floor)
- Computer/ Printing lab (2nd floor)
- Expanded opportunities for UC Davis Stores and ASUCD to serve the student population and campus community, including new and updated retail spaces.
- Critical improvements in compliance with seismic codes and ADA requirements.
The Memorial Union Information Desk serves the students, faculty, campus visitors, students from abroad, as well as the general public with their everyday information needs. The Information Desk is staffed by students who are eager to answer your daily inquiries.
In addition to answering day to day questions and providing campus, bike and bus maps, The Memorial Union Information Desk makes reservations for tables in the front of the MU and Silo as well as collection bins for registered student organizations (in partner with Center for Student Involvement). The Information Desk is also in charge of putting up and taking down hammocks, and patrolling the building to ensure safety for all guests.
Lost and Found
The Lost & Found for the MU is located at the Information Desk. During the Info Desk open hours, they will accept all lost items. They are not responsible for loss, damage to or recovery of property. Valuables are turned over to the UC Davis Police Department on Wednesdays, and Aggie Cards are turned into the Aggie Card office every Wednesday. All other items are kept at Information Desk for three weeks then donated to Aggie Reuse. Staff are available to assist guests with lost and found during Memorial Union open hours.
If your organization wishes to use the tables found in front of the MU (on the South patio) you must first register with the MU Guest Services desk. To do so, visit the desk and inform the attendant that you wish to make a table reservation. A student organization or on-campus department may reserve the tables up to 4 weeks in advance of the time they wish to use the table. Non-profit and off-campus organizations may only reserve two weeks before their desired time of use. After you have made your reservation, the attendant will inform you to return to the desk the-day-of your reservation to pick up a confirmation slip.
**NOTE because of the MU Renewal Project, the display cases are no longer available to reserve. However, there are now LCD display ad spaces that can be reserved through Student Affairs Marketing and Communications (follow this link for more information)
Located on the second floor of the MU are several meeting rooms including; Smith, DeCarli, Fielder, and Garrison. Smith and DeCarli are currently under construction while the new Chicanx and Latinx retention center is under construction. Room cards are placed outside the spaces each morning to inform students when the room is available for public use. Each room is available for studying up to 30 minutes prior to a reservation. If you are unsure if you can use the space, ask the Information Desk Attendant at the desk. With the opening of the remodeled MU, there is now two study lounges on the first floor (main lounge and southeast lounge) and one study lounge on the second floor.
