Walter G. Read (February 21st, 1854 — April 17th, 1907) was an inventor and businessman. He worked to secure water rights for the University Farm.
He was highly regarded in the almond industry. He invented almond hullers and cot pit crackers.
His wife was Jennie Drummond Lillard who had a son Lewis Craig Lillard.
Read Manufacturing Co. — Built "Read Portable Derricks", Almond Crackers, and Apricot pit Crackers.
Read Warehouses — erected in 1910? Can hold 35,000 sacks of grain. J. D. Holman manager.
1906 destroyed one of his plants.
